A Crawley residents’ group voted in favour of creating parking spaces out of small grass verges.
Most of the 30 residents who attended the Tilgate Forum meeting supported the increase in parking, said Jim Leggett, 70, of the Forum.
He said ‘it would be very difficult’ for councillors who attended to ignore the vote and added: “The councillors are sympathetic and the Forum is going to look for updates as time goes by.”
The meeting took place in Tilgate Community Centre.
Crawley MP Henry Smith, West Sussex Cllr Duncan Crow (Con, Tilgate and Furnace Green) and Tilgate’s borough councillors, Cllr Nigel Boxall (Con) and Cllr Colin Lloyd (Lab) attended.
The next meeting will start at 7.30pm on March 12.
