A total of £1,500 was raised at the Mayor of Crawley’s charity event.
The funds raised at Tilgate Park’s Walled Garden on Saturday (September 12) will go to the Mayor’s chosen charities, The Springboard Project and Crawley Community Voluntary Services.
The event was attended by councillors and members of the community, particularly from the voluntary sector.
There was a buffet dinner using locally sourced produce from Groundworks, which runs the garden’s Community Cafe.
Crawley duo Five O’clock and comedian Sajeela Kershi provided entertainment. Chris Oxlade played MC for the evening.
Councillor Chris Cheshire said: “I had a great evening and hope my guests did too.
“I would like to thank them for their generosity towards my two charities – Springboard Project and Crawley community & Voluntary Service – and everyone who helped make the event a success.”
The annual fundraiser is traditionally held at The Hawth Theatre.
She added: “I chose that particular venue because I love the park and wanted to showcase what a wonderful space it is to host a special occasion.
“I think it’s important to take advantage of the park and its facilities after all of the hard work that has gone into updating and maintaining it.
“It was my way of paying tribute to the Crawley Urban District Councillors who had the vision to buy the park for the town in the 1960s.”
