Four people arrested on suspicion of carrying out more than 200 burglaries, including more than 20 in and around Crawley, have failed to answer bail.

Sussex Police has issued an appeal after the four went missing.

A 24-year-old man from Sidcup, in south east London, and a 29-year-old man, from South Ockenden, Essex, were due to report to police on February 21.

A 16-year-old boy from Reigate, Surrey and a 20-year-old man from Billingshurst, West Sussex, are also wanted for failing to answer bail.

Thousands of pounds of cash, jewellery and electrical items have been stolen during break-ins over the last four months, which police across four counties believe were committed by the same gang.

A police spokesman said: “Enquiries are being made to trace and arrest them.

“A 28-year-old man from Reigate in Surrey has been rebailed until 21 April.”

Detectives from Sussex, Surrey, Kent and the Metropolitan Police had been working together to try to identify and arrest the group of people suspected of carrying out break-ins in all four force areas since September.
