A Crawley county councillor has asked for local members to be immediately informed on safeguarding concerns about hospitals following events at Langley Green Hospital.
The hospital, in Martyrs Avenue, was heavily criticised following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Cllr Brenda Smith (Lab, Langley Green & West Green) asked West Sussex County Council’s leader Louise Goldsmith for ‘local members to be immediately informed of safeguarding concerns about hospitals in their local area’. Cllr Goldsmith (Con, Chichester West) said the council was working with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and understood that while the hospital was closed for acute care, it was still admitting patients for crisis care.
Speaking at a WSCC Full Council meeting last Friday she added: “It’s very serious. These people really need to be looked after and it’s incredibly serious and we share your concerns.”
