The nominations have been flooding in for the Let’s FACE it! Outstanding Achievement Awards to be presented at our annual Evening of Celebration, taking place at The Hawth on Tuesday February 7.
People have been nominating individuals and groups for these special awards giving the reasons why they think they deserve to receive an Outstanding Achievement Award.
It’s really going to be a tricky job for the judging panel.
This week we reveal the names of the individuals who have been nominated to receive an Outstanding Achievement Award 2012 and tell you a little bit about them using extracts from their nomination forms.
Next week is the turn of the community groups.
The nominees are:
l Stella Berrisford has been the chair, driving force and motivator of Worth Conservation Area Group for many years as well as being an active hands-on team member.
l Fred and Mary Constable are nominated for their involvement with the Friends of Broadfield Park, Highwood Park Residents’ Group and Talk Broadfield. They are enthusiastic members of all three!
l Sharon Ottley initiated the Boswell Road Residents’ Group in Tilgate and is their leading light and motivator, encouraging and bringing the neighbours together.
l Ron Miles works tirelessly for his fellow residents of Bolney Court, keeping the area clean and tidy and litter picking the wider area of Bewbush, together with assisting other Let’s FACE it! projects in the neighbourhood.
l Anne Jenkinson is the honorary secretary for Worth Park Friends. She writes and coordinates their newsletter and worked tirelessly to promote the Heritage Lottery Fund application for Worth Park.
l Vanessa Harrold is the chair of Bewbush Action Group and her enthusiasm and dedication epitomises what the group is all about. For Vanessa, action really does speak louder than words and she leads by example.
l Ingrid Payne is the honorary treasurer of Worth Park Friends. She has produced technical and publicity material for members and the wider public.
l John Cooban from Three Bridges Forum combined his love of trees together with a wealth of knowledge to create a Three Bridges heritage trail in 2011, producing a leaflet that has helped strengthen the determination of local residents to protect their natural environment.
l Kate Oliver is the chairman of Worth Park Friends and has worked tirelessly to promote the bid for funds from the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore Worth Park to its former glory.
l Dave Hathaway from Three Bridges Forum has been the driving force behind many of the initiatives undertaken by the forum and is an inspiration to many.
