Police are hunting two men who robbed a man in a Crawley park.
An 18-year old local man was walking on a footpath through Goffs Park between Goffs Lane and Gossops Drive.
As he walked along Goffs Lane alongside Snell Hatch Cemetery, at about 5.30pm on Tuesday (June 25), he saw two men walking towards him.
He was knocked to the floor where he was punched and kicked repeatedly and his phone was taken.
He was also threatened so the attackers could get his pin number.
Detective Sergeant Peter Yarrow said: “This was a cowardly attack which could have left the victim with very serious injuries. Just before the incident he recalls seeing a woman nearby in the park, and we would very much like to trace her as she could be a valuable witness.
“We would also like to hear from anyone else who was in the area between 5:15pm and 5:45pm on Tuesday, or anyone who has been offered the phone for sale. It is a black iPhone 5c with a white back”.
One attacker was described as white, in his early 20s, of slim build, 5’6”, with short brown hair and unshaven stubble, a local accent and wearing a grey sports sweatshirt (either Nike or Adidas) and grey tracksuit bottoms.
The other was white and in his early 20s, of slim build, 5’9”, with a local accent, He wore a dark coloured beanie hat.
The victim was treated by police for cuts and bruises but did not need hospital treatment.
