Male pronounced dead in “tragic accident” at Horley railway station

A male was pronounced dead because of a “tragic accident” at Horley railway station last night (Monday April 7).

Emergency services were called to reports of a body on the tracks at 8.41pm.

A British Transport Police spokesman said the victim was believed to have been electrocuted after falling from the platform and coming into contact with the live rail.

He said: “The incident was reported to BTP at 8.41pm and was also attended by Surrey Fire Service and Surrey Ambulance Service.

“On arrival, officers discovered the body of a male who is believed to have been electrocuted after falling from the platform and coming into contact with the live power rail. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers are working to confirm his identity and inform his family.

“At this stage, officers believe there are no suspicious circumstances and the incident appears to have been the result of a tragic accident.
